This perennial herb grows at elevations of 2,100 to 3,700 meters, reaching heights of 20 to 60 cm. Its flowers vary in color from pale blue, giving rise to its name "coerulea," to white, pale yellow, and pink, often with two-toned sepals and petals. Each flower has five petals, five sepals. It also features five long spurs containing nectar to attract pollinators like hawkmoths, bumblebees, solitary bees. It thrives in damp woodlands and open mountain meadows.
